Canada   / ˈ k æ n ə d ə /  is a country in the northern part of North America. Its  ten provinces and three territories  extend from the Atlantic to the Pacific and northward into the Arctic Ocean, covering 9.98 million square kilometres (3.85 million square miles), making it the world's  second-largest country by total area  and the  fourth-largest country by land area . Canada's  border with the United States  is the world's longest binational land border. The majority of the country has a cold or severely cold winter climate, but southerly areas are warm in summer. Canada is sparsely populated, the majority of its land territory being dominated by  forest  and  tundra  and the  Rocky Mountains . It is highly  urbanized  with 82 per cent of the 35.15 million people concentrated in large and medium-sized cities, many near the southern border. Uganda  ( / juː ˈ ɡ æ n d ə /    officially the  Republic of Uganda  is a  landlocked country  in  East Africa . It is bordered to the east by  Kenya , to the north by  South Sudan , to the west by the  Democratic Republic of the Congo , to the south-west by  Rwanda , and to the south by  Tanzania . The southern part of the country includes a substantial portion of  Lake Victoria , shared with Kenya and Tanzania. Uganda is in the  African Great Lakes  region. Uganda also lies within the  Nile basin , and has a varied but generally a modified equatorial climate.

It is the world's  sixth-largest country by total area . The neighbouring countries are  Papua New Guinea ,  Indonesia  and  East Timor  to the north; the  Solomon Islands  and  Vanuatu  to the north-east; and  New Zealand  to the south-east. Australia's capital is  Canberra , and its largest  urban area  is  Sydney .

Kenya  ( / ˈ k ɛ n j ə / ), officially the  Republic of Kenya , is a country in Africa and a founding member of the  East African Community  (EAC). Its capital and largest city is  Nairobi . Kenya's territory lies on the  equator  and overlies the  East African Rift  covering a diverse and expansive terrain that extends roughly from  Lake Victoria  to  Lake Turkana  (formerly called  Lake Rudolf ) and further south-east to the  Indian Ocean . It is bordered by  Tanzania  to the south and southwest,  Uganda  to the west,  South Sudan  to the north-west,  Ethiopia  to the north and  Somalia  to the north-east. Kenya covers 581,309 km 2  (224,445 sq mi), and had a population of approximately 48 million people in January 2017.
